Intellia proves gene editing is a reality

Intellia, in our portfolios, skyrocketed following the release of clinical results showing that gene editing can be done effectively and safely. CRISPR’s ultimate goal, to cure genetic diseases with a one-shot drug, is finally in reach.
Bottom line
CRISPR gene editing technique has been in the eye of investors and scientists for almost a decade now. After beating all the previous gene editing technologies in lab setting, showing that it can be done in patients directly validates the technology as a therapeutic class. The road is not yet paved but a future with CRISPR spearheading the genetic medicine is increasingly likely.
