China is placing more emphasis than ever on innovation because it sees it as a core focus to proceed with its modernization process. The favored sectors by the policymaker – advanced technology, healthcare, and renewable energy – will be less affected by the regulatory crackdown and provide juicy opportunities for local players.
Despite regulatory headwinds, we firmly believe that China still provides attractive investment opportunities. However, caution is still needed. China is in a transition phase from rapid growth to a stage of high-quality development. The policy objective is to restructure market practices and establish a solid ground for sustainable and socially responsible growth, to benefit the long-term investment prospects.
